A very colorful tradition is the flowers worn on hair of the women of India. Specially the women of South India. The most popular are rose, jasmine and kanambaram(கனகாம்பரம்-crossandra) an bright reddish orange flower. Sometimes a dash of green herbs are added in between to give it special fragrance. Nowadays artificial flowers in cloth and synthetic are available. These look very natural and fresh.In Tamil weddings flowers are auspicious. The bride wears lots of flowers. And every guest is given a small strand of flowers to wear.
