Kerala Jewelry





Traditional Kerala jewelry consist of kasu mala, palakka mala, ela mala, manga mala, Mullamottu maala, Poothaali, Ashta Laxmi, etc. Matching bangles and earrings are popular now days. Cream coloured saree or mundu is worn by the women.

These Indian jewelry are made in pure gold, gold plated or imitation. For weddings, festivals and special occasions necklaces, malas and chains are mandatory to be worn on the saree. This kind of traditional jewelry of South India is mostly done in gold colour with red and green enamel.

The kaasu mala is small coins arranged in a necklace. Paalaka maali is made up of leaf like patterns. Similarly the manga mala is small mango shaped designs arranged together.
